"Cyprus: a dynamic island", an exhibition on ancient Cyprus in a town in The Netherlands!

In university town Leiden just half an hour by train from Amsterdam the archaeological museum RMO is displaying till March 2020 400 artefacts representing 9000 years of the island's history.

The items are placed against a background of large pictures of the landscape of Cyprus. On display are sculptures, trade goods, art, jewellery , mosaics and more.

Many civilisations and tribes came to Cyprus but for us due to the surrounding sea it is still a destination you do not visit "because you were in the neighbourhood". So that makes this exhibit a thing to go and see "when you are in the neighbourhood".

I must admit I have not seen the exhibit yet. I attended this afternoon a lecture at the museum about the exhibit and the history of Cyprus. As you can see it was very busy there and as I live near I decided to leave after the lecture and have a wander round next week. But my neighbour Y. who was born on Cyprus had already been there and said it was very nicely done.
