The Lake District is a tourist destination in the North of England. It is a picturesque area with as the name suggests LAKES and quite steep hills. Lake Windermere is the most famous and in 2018 we went for a cruise on the lake there. The whole area was then swamped by Arab tourists.
When Bob and I made the trip down from Scotland in 2019 is was very very warm and sunny. We started with a lunch in Pooley Bridge near Ullswater, one of the other lakes. This is a far smaller places but still many people on a daytrip. We had a great lunch with the local Cumbrian Sausage, the local delicacy (so like Dutch sausage or saucijs I wondered who copied whom).
From there we went to the Kirkstone Pass to have a drink at the Kirkstone Pass in. When you gaze down you still can see Ullswater in the distance.
It is one of the highest places there and in winter snowed over but when we were there it felt like we were somewhere in the South.
Bob will do some of the explaining:
Down from the inn is a long and winding very narrow road called The Struggle.
We ended up in Keswick for a walk and a mocktail. And a fish and chips dinner.
