A month ago I attended a lecture by the curator of this museum, the RMO, and I must admit that made my visit this week a lot more enjoyable as I could recognise what het had told us about.
The selection has very beautiful objects from the past but also a few more modern ones that were inspired by the antiquities.
The museum is situated in the middle of a small university town with old Dutch houses and canals and is just a 10 minutes walk from the railwaystation. Trains to Amsterdam are fast and frequent.
